The spatial distribution of tectonic features / faults is key elements of the seismic hazard zonation and the microzonation studies of the earthquake affected areas. Keeping in view the requirement of the various ongoing works in the earthquake affected areas; NESPAK initiated the work of developing a general fault map of the area.
The faults given on the published maps of various sources were picked and vectorized on the GIS platform. The orientation and location of various faults in the earthquake affected areas and near to major towns were given special consideration. The map provides a general guidance for planning and reconstruction activities to avoid construction within the fault zone. The resulting map is also a valuable source for the future seismotectonic studies for identification of the possible fault rupture zones in the earthquake affected areas.
